If you are coming to a ticketed event, keep an eye on the specific event page as this is where you find the most up-to-date information – or check out the below, for help to find your way.

By Car

There is onsite parking outside the venue in the UCSA Carpark, this is paid parking from 8.00 am-5.00 pm. Free parking is available after 5 pm and on the weekends. For bigger events, overflow parking is available in the Science Carpark further down Ilam Road.

There is a drop off zone in front of the Foundry bar.

By Bus

The closest bus stop is University – Ilam road and is located opposite the venue. Bus timetables can be viewed on the Metro website.

By Taxi/ Rideshare

Taxis and rideshare vehicles are able to use the drop off zone outside of The Foundry Bar.

By Bike

Bike racks are located outside The Foundry Bar, around the corner from the main entrance.

By Scooter

If you arrive by scooter, please park it away from the entrance doors, so as not to obstruct any emergency exits.

Hearing Loop

The Ngaio Marsh Theatre features a hearing loop – both passive and active.

Wheelchair Access

Haere-roa is wheelchair accessible and has wheelchair allocated seating for theatre shows in the Ngaio Marsh Theatre. There is lift access for events in Bentleys Bar.

The building features two lifts, one up to each half of the second story.

Haere-roa is visually transparent and wheelchair accessible.

Bathrooms

There are several accessible toilets within the building, including in the Social Space and the Ngaio Marsh Theatre on the first floor, and in the Bentley’s bathrooms on the second floor These are all clearly marked.

All bathrooms within the building are gender neutral.

Accessible Transport

Haere-roa is on public transport routes. See our Getting There section for more information.

Mobility Car Parks

There are Mobility Car Parks located close to Haere-roa’s main entrance and the route to the entrance is step free.

Door Open Times

Doors are open for two hours from the advertised event start time. We do not open doors before the advertised start time.

No Pass Outs

There are NO PASS OUTS. Once you leave, you will not be permitted to re-enter the venue.

We are cashless

All of our venues now use touchless payments at retail outlets meaning a safer and more efficient service for guests and staff alike.

Lost Property

Event organizers take no responsibility for personal possessions brought to the event.

Please note that while, as a venue, we endeavour to communicate with audiences as fully as possible, these conditions may change at short or no notice for reasons at the discretion of venue management.

Dress

All persons entering Haere-roa must be appropriately dressed. The right of admittance is reserved to venue staff and decision will be final.

In particular, no person will be permitted entry to the Venue with:

  • Bare feet
  • Heels, open toed shoes or shoes without a heel strap (e.g. slides)
  • Clothing containing offensive messages.
  • Gang patches, or symbols.
  • Inappropriate costume

Behaviour

Please abide by the instructions of security and staff at all times. Patrons may be refused entry or asked to leave if they:

  • Are not in possession of a valid ticket or wristband
  • Are the subject of a current trespass order
  • Attempt to bring in, or are found with, prohibited items (full list of items below)
  • Appear intoxicated or under the influence of drugs.
  • Behave in a disorderly or offensive manner
  • Fail to comply with security or venue staff requests, such as agreeing to a search
  • Are carrying out illegal or unauthorised activities within the venue

Age Restrictions

All concerts at Haere-roa are R18 unless otherwise advertised. Please ensure you have valid proof-of-age ID on you in the form of: NZ driver’s license, current passport, or kiwi access card. Physical copies only, photographs will not be accepted.

Prohibited Items

All event participants agree to submit to security screening on entry including searches of bags, pockets, and jackets on entry to the venue.

The list of items which are prohibited include but are not limited to the following:

  • Alcohol – any alcohol found at the Event Site will be confiscated and will not be returned and the offending patron(s) ejected from Event Site for the remainder of the Event.
  • Glass (jars, bottles, containers, mirrors and perfumes).
  • Air horns.
  • Weapons or explosives of any kind (including potential missiles).
  • Illegal substances.
  • Animals (excluding service dogs such as guide dogs and police or emergency service dogs).
  • Nitrous oxide bulbs and canisters.
  • Flares, fireworks, sparklers explosives, or any fire twirling equipment.
  • Fires and open flames.
  • Flammable liquids.
  • Instruments.
  • Advanced personal vaporizers (or modified APVs) or liquid refills for E-Cigs.
  • Sound systems.
  • Portable laser equipment and pens.
  • Sharpies, markers, paint cans or paint pens.
  • Drones or other remote-control devices.
  • Couches and chairs.
  • Anything studded (i.e. belts, wristbands etc).
  • Audio or video recording devices (including GoPro and similar).
  • Professional photography equipment (eg telephoto lenses; any lens over 20cm; any detachable lens; stands or other commercial equipment or anything deemed by Event staff to be professional photography equipment).
  • Kites or sky lanterns.
  • Toy guns, water guns or slingshots.
  • Monopods, tripods or attachment sticks(selfie-sticks).
  • Skateboards, scooters, wagons, carts, rollerblades, roller skates, bicycles, quad-bikes, segways, hoverboards, self-balancing scooters or any personal motorised vehicles.
  • Unauthorised solicitation materials including handbills, flyers, stickers, beach balls, give-aways, samples, or other promotional items.
  • Any other item deemed by Event staff (in their discretion) to be dangerous or offensive or potentially dangerous by Event organisers.
  • Eskys and coolers.
  • Umbrellas.
